Exams

We value the confidence you have shown by selecting us to serve your dental needs.  We sincerely believe that one of the most important services we have to offer is a plan for preventative dentistry.  It is our goal to introduce ideas and help you to understand methods that will aid in obtaining and maintaining good oral health.

New Patient Exams

Your initial appointment will be spent experiencing a thorough exam and evaluation of your specific dental needs.  Our routine includes a review of your dental and medical histories, examination of your head, neck, and mouth – including the teeth and surrounding areas.  Digital radiographs (x-rays) and diagnostic study models will be taken when necessary.  A study of your clinical findings will help us evaluate your specific needs so that we can discuss conditions present and together decide the proper treatment for you.  Because of the time involved in evaluating your condition, a follow-up consultation appointment may be required.

Routine Check-ups

Once we have established your specific dental needs, we strongly suggest regular preventative care with cleanings and dentist check-ups ranging from 3-12 months.  We say it often, “Prevent, prevent, prevent.”  We look forward to encouraging and coaching you through effective dental habits!  Remember that you can dramatically lower your risk of cavities by brushing your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, eating a well-balanced diet, and visiting the dentist regularly.

Cleanings

Whether you have severe gum disease or minimal plaque build-up, we will help you understand the right way to care for your pearly whites.

Routine Cleaning

Most people just need a little catching up every 6-12 months.

Maintenance Cleaning

If you have ever had a deep cleaning (due to periodontitis [gum disease]), you will likely need a more thorough cleaning than our Routine Cleaning.  We hope to maintain your dental health and minimize the need for future deep cleanings.  Typically these appointments are required every 3-4 months.

Deep Cleaning

If you have periodontitis (gum disease), we must get below the gumline.  There is a different community of bacteria that live down in the deepest parts of your gum pocket and we must remove that harmful community and smooth the surfaces of your roots in order to stop bone and gum damage.
